The greening in Āgenskalns Market in Riga is a project that involved extensive improvements to the market forecourt carried out in 2021. With the participation of the JARDI team, professional landscaping of the area was provided. The goal of the project was to create an attractive, city-appropriate, and sustainable green space. This area need to complement the renovated market architecture and create a pleasant environment for visitors.
The work was carried out according to a pre-designed landscape plan, with special attention given to functional and visually expressive solutions. Considering the specifics of the urban environment and the high flow of visitors, decorative plantings were placed in large pots and boxes. This solution ensures both mobility and flexibility in the area’s layout. Which allows the plantings to be more easily adapted to seasonal changes.
The planting compositions were designed to be decorative throughout the different seasons. Maintaining structure, color dynamics, and a neat overall appearance. Large containers serve not only as a design element but also as a practical solution in urban areas where it is not possible to create traditional flower beds.
As a result, a tidy and modern outdoor space has been created in the forecourt of Āgenskalns Market. This is area where high-quality landscaping and carefully planned decorative plantings in the urban environment complement the historic market building. We createted a pleasant environment for both Riga residents and city visitors.
